Kirklees Symphonic Wind Orchestra

Launched in January 2005, Kirklees Symphonic Wind Orchestra recruits members primarily from the Kirklees area but is open to young musicians throughout West Yorkshire. The orchestra rehearses on Monday evenings from 6.15 – 9.15pm, at the KMS Northumberland Street building in Huddersfield.

The schedule is based on rehearsals once a fortnight, amended to fit around bank holidays and other commitments - a detailed rehearsal schedule is issued to members in advance. In addition to the regular rehearsals, orchestra activities include concerts; entry to recognised festivals and competitions; foreign tours; and workshops led by prominent composers/conductors. It is aimed at musicians of grade 5 standard and above (grade 7/8 standard for flute) and entry is by audition.
