Colne Valley Music Centre
Colne Valley Music Centre meets two sessions per week during term time. The music centre is based at Colne Valley Specialist Arts College, Linthwaite, Huddersfield HD7 5SP.

At the Colne Valley Music Centre we are so lucky to have the following:
- A happy friendly family atmosphere;
- A willingness of staff, pupils and parents to be helpful;
- A talented and consistent staffing structure;
- An overwhelming sense of tradition whilst having the energy and enthusiasm to try out new ideas.
- Many successful musicians who have passed through the Colne Valley Music Centre, have taken the ethos of the centre with them into their careers and are always keen to come back and pay us a visit.
We try to make ourselves available for many traditional and local events. These include: Slaithwaite Moonraking Festival, Marsden Jazz Festival, Helme School Fete, Linthwaite Ardron School summer and winter events, Pole Moor Horseman’s Carol Concert and Harden Moss Sheepdog Trials. We have also ventured further afield from time to time: Disneyland Paris; Southampton exchange trip; Big Band Ingleton residential weekend; Hornsea Music Festival; the National Festival of Music for Youth which is hosted by Colne Valley Music Centre, seeing approximately 1500 people pass through our Music Centre doors in one weekend! Also resulting on many occasions in our groups being invited to perform in the Symphony Hall, Birmingham, the Festival Hall, London and the Royal Albert Hall, London; and, of course, our termly music centre concerts, all of which are heavily subscribed.
We encourage our members to play an active role in any Kirklees groups as they reach an appropriate standard and many are members of the numerous local community and school groups, all of which eats away a huge chunk of their valuable time but, we feel, creates a well rounded and experienced musician.

The groups play a good balance of traditional, modern, fun and experimental music which is chosen by the directors to match the strength of the groups each year.
There is a structured and natural progression throughout the groups which is encouraged by the staff at an appropriate time and is yearned for by the pupils.
All ages are encouraged to interact and the pupils' Music Centre carreers tend to begin in Primary School and end as they leave for University.
