Farnley Tyas Diamond Jubilee Celebration
Well done to our talented Wider Opportunities brass class at Farnley Tyas First School who led the village parade for the village Diamond Jubilee celebrations. The mixed year 3,4 and 5 class have been learning cornets and baritones in their weekly sessions since September. They learned the two pieces of music (Mini march and Bubblegum from the Soundstart series) by memory to enable them to concentrate on the marching and staying in time!
They were joined for the march by their head-teacher Alison Black, their KMS brass tutor Jamie O'Brien, and two older students from Shelley Music Centre. They led the procession magnificently all the way through the village before jumping onto the trailer with the rest of the school to be carried off to the fete at the village green. All the children had a fabulous time and many of the parents commented on how proud they were to see their youngsters leading the parade in this way.
