What's New?
Shelley Music Centre Party in the Gym
Following the torrential rain seen for most of this year's "summer" the Shelley Music Centre Party in the Park was this year relocated to the school sports hall. Nonetheless, the youngsters put on a fabulous afternoon of musical entertainment featuring the music centre wind bands, big band, adult swing band, Scissett Youth Band and Shelley College's home grown jazz group - the Big Band Theory.
Every group played wonderfully, and a real high point in the afternoon was a reprise performance from the Senior Wind Band of their National Festival programme which they played in Symphony Hall, Birmingham earlier in the week. This included Vaughan William's Flourish for Wind Band, When the Stars Began to Fall and the evocative music-scape Habitat.
The afternoon closed with a massed wind band performance of the Sousa March Stars and Stripes Forever, of which a short video clip can be seen by clicking on the link below.
