Shelley Music Centre Summer Serenade

Saturday 7th July saw the 6th annual Summer Serenade concert given by the Shelley Music Centre string groups. They were joined for the occasion by the Guitar Ensemble and for the first time the Recorder Ensemble with special guests the Huddersfield Music Centre Junior and Intermediate Guitars.

All groups performed to a very high standard and special congratulations should go the students who performed solos and duets and our String Quartet "Four" made up of Katie Ellis, James Fearnley, Amy Garlick and Rachel Mallinson. Our Ready Steady Bow group also deserve a special mention. The group is made up of some of the youngest members of Music Centre and this was their first major public performance. They gave a fantastic rendition of Dinosaur Plod and seemed to thoroughly enjoy the whole experience.

Parent Nigel Ellis wrote after the concert, "I write after attending the Shelley Music Centre Summer Serenade concert yesterday evening, which was another really special event when young people showed their developing musical abilities and performed very confidently and competently. All the parents can be really proud of their offspring - they performed well because the whole approach and atmosphere is so positive. At the end Mrs. Wise said thank you to everyone, including the other staff, and I'd like to add big thank you to her."

Our thanks also go to everyone who provided such wonderful cakes for the interval.
