Requirements for lessons

Most effective use of instrumental tuition takes place where the following practical steps are taken:

A dedicated and regular room is provided which has the following facilities:

Essential

• Is not disturbed by others
• Does not disturb others
• Is a regular venue
• Is known to the pupils
• Has music stands
• Has enough chairs for teacher and pupils
• Notice board close by for timetables, etc.

Desirable

• Has a table
• Has a black/whiteboard or somewhere to write
• Access to a piano/keyboard
• Access to other necessary equipment e.g. tape recorder, CD player from time to time

Please

• do all you can to ensure that pupils bring their instrument, music and diary with them
• ensure that pupils are able to leave their curriculum lesson on time for their instrumental/vocal lesson
• provide the KMS teacher with details of:
• essential school policies e.g. dress code, staff code of conduct etc
• health and Safety information
• fire safety and evacuation procedures
• notify instrumental teachers of topics in schemes of work in any particular term
